OrangeCrush, our latest creation in collaboration with Calgary-based Tomorrow Collective, is entirely constructed of delightfully squashy pool noodles (material properties = FUN!). OrangeCrush is a synthetic passageway, inviting people to walk through it and interact with it. Composed of 1000 orange pool noodles and orchestrated by a team of architects, designers and engineers, the piece invites the curious to pop through or linger, emanating an orange glow with each step. In the theme of ‘Urbanity Open Air’, the installation seeks to redefine under-utilized public space by creating an immersive physical environment through structure, responsive lighting and creativity. OrangeCrush has planned stop-overs in Calgary Beakerhead Sept. 16th-20th, Saskatoon Nuit Blanche Sept 26th, Oct. 8th at Regina’s Urbanity Open Air Festival and Oct 16th, 2015 at the MacKenzie Art Gallery in Regina.
